You never forget your first set of wheels

Antonio Pasin began making wooden toy wagons in Chicago in 1917. Today his company has grown to employ hundreds and has built and sold millions of little red wagons all over the world. Named for Antonio’s passion for the relatively new fields of radio and flight, Radio Flyer has become an American cultural icon “for every girl and every boy.” Who doesn’t have memories of hauling things all over the yard, taking a ride with mom and dad, or trying unsuccessfully to steer while rocketing down a hill?

Radio Flyer has made their classic metal body wagon since 1927 and still produces it today but their product line has also grown and evolved to improve the ride as well as remain relevant with the designs of the times.

High sides were added in the Radio Rancher of the 1950s to keep kids from falling out. The Fireball 2001 was introduced in the 1970s and had a muscle-car feel with slick tires and a bright paintjob. In 2002, the plastic wagon was introduced sparing children from the character-building misery of sitting in a wagon forgotten in the sun.

You can begin building these memories with your children now at another Illinois homegrown success story – Rural King. We carry several different products from Radio Flyer including the classic metal body (updated with modern safety and comfort features such as a seatback and belt), a plastic model  with cup holders and folding seats, and a wooden model with removable sides. We even offer a clip-on umbrella to protect your kids (and their legs) from the sun! For older, more independent children we also carry several tricycles and a scooter!
